Pop stars and celebrities dress like strippers. Over the past several years, mainstream news outlets have pointed out the fact that Katy Perry, Rihana, Britney, Miley, Lindsay Lohan and countless others often dress stripper chic in public appearances and in music videos. CNN even created a YouTube video which says that going stripper chic is the way to stay on top in the music industry.

Yes really! There is a company that makes a modified version of the classic see-through platform stripper heels and sells them to be worn by the bridesmaids in weddings. (Can I get invited to that reception?) Here’s a picture of the stripper chic wedding heels.

DRESSING AS SEXY AS A STRIPPER HAS BECOME FASHIONABLE
I often see female tourists on Las Vegas Boulevard dressed in more revealing and sexy ways than the strippers in the clubs. In fact, go to any night club in Vegas and you are certain to see plenty of flesh. Sure, the strippers get naked on stage and while giving a lap dance, but on any given night I can walk down Las Vegas Boulevard and see a dozen nipples in 10 minutes when the girls are on their way to the night club and 5 dozen in 10 minutes when they are staggering back to their hotel with their stripper heels in hand. MAYBE WE SHOULD CALL IT HOOKER CHIC…
Tourists and friends from out-of-town often ask me how to tell the difference between the prostitutes in Vegas and the girls who dress super sexy to go out to the clubs. My standard answer is, “The Hookers know how to walk in 9 inch heels and the tourists don’t.” Surprisingly, the truth is that the hookers, prostitutes, and escorts often dress more conservatively than the tourists going to Night Clubs. The hookers know that dressing too sexy draws too much attention and will get them in trouble. The girls going to Night Clubs want the attention and haven’t yet learned that drawing the wrong kind of male attention is worse than drawing no attention at all. Again, no judgement. We like women no matter how they choose to dress. We are simply observing that stripper chic is undeniably a fashion trend.

It’s great that there are pole dancing classes so women can learn and practice teasing their guy. I’m a big fan of the pole fitness classes that build upper body and core strength through pole dancing routines. Bachelorette groups often go to pole dancing parties or classes while in Vegas. But there is a company out there that made a peek a boo pole dancing kit and advertised it for girls aged 11 and up to release their “inner sex kitten.” That is simply disgusting. Gladly those ads have stopped due to complaints from parents.
